Frequently asked questions
Euro B2B Smart Hub app for Shopify
This is general product information, not tax or legal advice.
Is it allowed to show net prices in Germany (PAngV)?
The German Price Indication Ordinance (Preisangabenverordnung, PAngV) covers prices that businesses show to consumers (§ 1 (1) PAngV). Anyone who offers goods to consumers, or advertises to them with prices, must state the total price (§ 3 (1) PAngV), and the total price is defined as the price including VAT (§ 2 No. 3 PAngV).
What this means for the app:
- If consumers can buy in your shop, the price including VAT has to be shown. Euro B2B Smart Hub shows the price with VAT and the price without VAT side by side; you choose how both prices look.
- The PAngV doesn't regulate prices offered only to businesses. Whether your shop counts as consumer-facing, and how prominent the net price may be, depends on your shop, your audience and your layout.
We can't give legal advice. Please check your price display with your tax adviser or a lawyer, especially if you sell to consumers in Germany.

What is a VIES consultation number?
VIES is the European Commission's system for checking EU VAT numbers against the national registers. When a business checks a customer's VAT number and also gives its own VAT number as the requester, VIES returns a consultation number: a unique reference for that check, with its date and result. It lets you show later that you checked a given VAT number at a given time.
Euro B2B Smart Hub checks every business customer's VAT number in VIES when they register. If you enter your own VAT number in the app settings, each check is saved with its consultation number in the VAT checks log. Without your own VAT number, the checks still run, but VIES returns no consultation number.
Whether a consultation number is enough evidence for a VAT-free sale depends on your country's rules. Ask your tax adviser what else you should keep, such as the invoice and proof of transport.
Does it work with Shopify B2B?
Yes. Shopify B2B (company profiles, catalogs, payment terms) is available on Shopify's Basic, Grow and Advanced plans as well as on Shopify Plus. Euro B2B Smart Hub works alongside it:
- Shopify handles company profiles, catalogs and checkout. The app adds what happens before checkout: prices with and without VAT on the storefront, B2B sign-up with a VAT number check, and VAT number re-checks.
- On the Professional plan, the app's B2B discounts, quantity tiers, approvals and checkout rules also apply to buyers who belong to a Shopify B2B company. When you approve a new business customer, you can create a Shopify B2B company location for them and assign a catalog.
- You don't need Shopify B2B to use the app. Business customers who sign up through the app's B2B button are regular Shopify customers with a verified VAT number and the EU reverse charge exemption.
What happens when a VAT number becomes invalid?
Saved VAT numbers are re-checked every month. If the register reports a number as no longer valid:
- the customer loses the EU reverse charge exemption, so their next orders include VAT;
- the customer is tagged
b2b-vat-invalid; - you get a summary email listing the customers whose numbers failed.
If VIES or a national register doesn't answer, nothing changes and the number is checked again on the next run. A number that turns valid again isn't restored automatically: open the customer in VAT checks and run "Re-check now" to restore the exemption.
Which themes are supported?
The app works with popular free and paid Shopify themes, including Dawn and Horizon, and Online Store 2.0 themes in general. Prices with and without VAT appear on product, collection and cart pages. If prices don't show correctly on your theme, contact support@cloud-vendor-software.nl so we can look at your theme.
